Bradford Bulls Women win Challenge Cup
Bradford Bulls Women have picked up their first piece of silverware as they defeated Featherstone Rovers Ladies 50-16 in the Challenge Cup Final at Heworth ARLFC.
They were made to do it the hard way however as Rovers burst out of the blocks in the early stages and into a 12-4 lead, determined to overturn a 40-24 defeat handed to them by the Bulls earlier this season.
Cheered on by over 1,000 vocal fans they would eventually go on to outscore their opponents 26-4 in the second half to seal the game and trophy in style.
They kept up their unbeaten record for the season with tries from Amy Hardcastle (2), captain Kirsty Moroney (2), winger Savannah Andrade, Charlotte Booth, Player of the Match Shona Hoyle, Lois Forsell, Lauren Hickey and Jess Courtman, with goals coming from Claire Garner (2) and Courtman (3).
Rovers’ points came from tries by Brogan Churm, Sarah Dunn and Kayleigh Bullman, with goals coming from Nat Gilmour (2).
Bulls coaches Geoff Toovey, Leigh Beattie and Mark Dunning were in attendance.
Coach Mark Prescott said: “I’m so proud of the girls on achieving this fantastic achievement. It means a lot to everyone to see so many Bulls fans here”.
