You will no doubt be aware of the Brownlee Brothers successes this year and we are delighted to announce a wonderful opportunity for schools to be involved in a Triathlon experience day in Bradford. The event has been set up by Alistair and Jonny so they can give something back to the community. They attribute much of their success to people they met as youngsters around schools, clubs and events who had a fantastic passion for sport.
As a close partner of the Brownlee Foundation, Active Bradford would like to invite your school to be part of this free event to be held at Bradford Grammar School on 22nd May. The event will give Key Stage 2 pupils an opportunity to try the disciplines of the triathlon. No previous experience or expertise in triathlon is required. All children will swim in the pool, cycle approximately 800m on grass and run 300m. Bikes, helmets and swimming caps will be provided and every child will receive a t-shirt before hand and a medal and goody bag when they cross the finish line.
The event will run from 09.30 – 2.00 pm and schools who would like to attend will be allocated a slot for their children to take part in the activities at some point during these times. Each school will be given an arrival time at least 30 minutes before their allocated slot and then it will take about an hour for the children to complete the whole process. Once your children have finished the Triathlon you will be free to return to school.
Each school is invited to bring a maximum of 30 children from any (or all) class in KS2 however please note that children taking part in the Triathlon must be able to swim (less confident swimmers will be able to remain in the shallow end of the pool).
At this stage, we would like to know if your school would like to participate in the event. Please register with your preferred timeslot on the Yorkshire Sport Foundation website by Friday 31st March

After this date, we will write to your school to confirm your time slot with full details for the day. Places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis so please get your application in early to avoid disappointment!
