Co-Chairs of Active Bradford hope the Lionesses success will inspire all communities across the district to achieve their sporting goals.
Following the England women's football team winning the European Championships on Sunday, the newly appointed Co-Chairs of Active Bradford would like to congratulate the Lionesses on a truly remarkable achievement and believe it could act as a catalyst for more people to play sport and become active.
Speaking today Charles Dacres and James Mason stated:
"We hope, and are sure, this will inspire future generations of girls to play football and sport. Bradford has some great women's football teams who have been running for a number of years, including Bradford City AFC Women, with 2022 Bradford Sport Award finalist Maisie Norde committing to another season there, Thackley, Ilkley, Field, Silsden, Tyersal and Athletico all providing opportunities for women and girls across the district to play football. Combined with the start of the Commonwealth Games this is a huge moment in sport where we can truly make sport more accessible for all regardless of gender, race, ethnicity, postcode or ability.
Hopefully this can be a seminal moment to drive real change and ensuring that doors are opened in sports and sporting activities to make them accessible, reflecting the mantra of sport for all."
